Come join the Friends of the Greenhouse!
September 27, 2019
Got a bit of a green thumb? Want to help the environment? Maybe just want to make some new friends? Then Mrs. Byler’s “Friends of the Greenhouse” is the group for you! The brainchild of Mrs. Byler and other members of the science department, the NHS greenhouse is a one-of-a-kind structure that will open up a whole host of new ecological opportunities and environment-based classroom curriculum options to students K-12. But the greenhouse is not a light undertaking. Curation and maintenance will require a coordinated effort, which is why Mrs. Byler has decided to enlist the help of eager, eco-minded students with a passion for the natural world. Meetings are every Wednesday from about 3 to 4 after school, and members will get to have hands-on experience setting up the greenhouse, planting plants, and keeping track of the many monarch caterpillars, chrysalises, and butterflies that have made a home in the garden surrounding the greenhouse. Snacks (including Munchkins!) may be served after a day’s work. Hope to see you there!
