In March 2020, COVID-19 brought the world to a halt. Businesses often considered integral parts of daily life — such as gyms — closed, and people avoided leaving their homes. Since then, gyms have reopened. But many still find themselves turning to home workout videos to retain physique.

Chloe Ting, a 34-year-old resident of Australia, began her YouTube journey in August of 2011. Her channel primarily featured videos of workout routines and of healthy food recipes.

In searching for new and exciting ways to remain fit amidst a global pandemic, many stumbled upon Chloe Ting, who not only uploaded videos on a regular basis, but also maintained a website on which she published schedules outlining when viewers should watch each video.  Each schedule, also known as a challenge, targets a specific area of the body. Her workouts do not require equipment, and her challenges are free.

Ting’s subscriber count grew dramatically in a short time. Throughout February 2020, Chloe Ting gained 210,000 subscribers; in May — just three months later — she had 3,050,000 subscribers. As of February 2021, Ting boasts 17.8 million subscribers.

Perhaps most importantly, Chloe Ting’s videos deliver results to viewers. We all need to maintain a healthy lifestyle — especially during a pandemic — and Chloe Ting’s subscribers are successful in achieving their goals. Skeptics need only see Ting’s fans’ ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos before they are inspired to work out with her.
