MLB Post Season Soon To Arrive, Will the Mets Make It To the World Series?
October 5, 2022
We are now counting down the days until the 2022 regular Major League Baseball season is over, as we head into the postseason.
As of right now, every division winner in both the NL and AL, besides the NL East, has been decided. The Houston Astros and LA Dodgers are the two teams that hold possession of both the division and the best record in the league.
The New York Mets once had a 10 and 1/2-game lead over the Atlanta Braves. The Mets now sit in second place, 2 games behind.
The Mets had been in first place for practically the whole year. They fell to second place on April 11th after losing to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4, but they were able to hold off the Braves until September 10th, falling back a half-game.
Now, after entering the much-anticipated 3-game set with Atlanta, the Mets are tied.
Thanks to Eduardo Escobar for single handedly carrying the team to a 5-4 win against the Miami Marlins last Wednesday night – bringing in all five RBI’s and walking it off in the 10th.
The Washington Nationals helped us out as well, also walking it off in the 10th against the Braves.
But the Atlanta Braves swept the Mets right out of Truist park.
All that the Mets had to do was win one of the three games against Atlanta to win the season series. This plays a big role in the season since they will not play game 163 – if they are to finish in a tie, the Braves will win the division since they won 10 of the 19 games played against the Mets.
However, the season isn’t over yet. The Mets will go on to play the Washington Nationals while the Braves face the Miami Marlins. The only way for the Mets to clinch the division is if they sweep the Nationals and the Marlins sweep the Braves. Otherwise, they will settle for the wildcard and go on to verse the San Diego Padres.
It’s not over until it’s over. Will The Mets make it to the world series?
