Halloween is right around the corner and yes, we can still dress up. Whether or not you’re going trick or treating, it is still fun to dress up for the holiday, even if you’re just going to be handing out candy. So, what are some last-minute ideas that are still cute?
You can never go wrong with choosing a classic Halloween character such as a ghost, vampire, skeleton, etc. But, if you’re looking for a costume that hasn’t been overused, you came to the right place.
One option is to dress up as Mary Elizabeth Cep in the Y2K comedy film Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Much of her iconic outfit can be easily put together with the exception of her necklace, which can be a fun DIY. Or, you can dress up in pop-punk icon Avril Lavigne’s grunge outfit at the 2002 MTV VMAs. This is a good example of an inexpensive but easy-to-put-together costume that is casual and still recognizable. Another idea is Uma Thurman as The Bride in Kill Bill. This one isn’t as easy to replicate, but you don’t have to splurge on the costume. Instead, find an inexpensive yellow tracksuit, glue on the black stripes, stitch on the patches, and add a matching yellow belt.
If you’re looking to dress up with a couple of friends, a fun idea is Cher, Dionne, and Tai from the ‘90s cult classic Clueless. This costume is recognizable as well as fashion-forward as the movie reflects the iconic style of the decade. If you were a fan of the summer’s hit movie Barbie, you and your friends can dress up as ‘the Barbies’ and/or ‘the Kens’. This works well because you can do this with however many or few people you want. Another idea that does not have a limit on the number of members is horror movie villains such as Ghostface from Scream, Freddy Kruger from Nightmare on Elm Street, Pennywise from It, and Samara from The Ring.
If you’re more of a do-it-yourself person, here are some easy do-it-yourself costumes. Starting off easy, you can DIY Uma Thurman’s Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction. For this costume, all you need is a white button-down, a black tank, and some black dress pants, for added effect you can buy a black wig, and then you’re good to go and dance with John Travolta. Or, there’s Rory and/or Lorelei Gilmore, where all you need is a big sweater, some blue jeans, and a cup full of coffee. Lastly, you could be Mavis from Hotel Transylvania, where you could probably find most of the pieces in your closet. You’ll need a plain black T-shirt, some black shorts, red and black striped leggings(which you’ll probably need to buy), and if you want, vampire fangs.
That’s all and have a happy Halloween! We hope that you were able to find a costume and that you enjoy the fun holiday!
