As we’re getting closer to 2024, there are some wacky holidays that are not typically recognized. You might not realize it, but every day has a holiday associated with it! I’m going to be highlighting some of the most fun, strange, and unnecessary holidays from each month that actually exist.
Starting on January 1st, we have Polar Bear Plunge Day, and January 21st is National Soup Swap Day.
February 3rd is National Work Naked Day, and all I can say for that one is: please don’t. The 4th of February is Thank Your Mailman Day and February 23rd is International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day.
Moving on to March, on the 5th we have Cinco de Marcho, and the 14th is reserved for the well-known Pi Day. To make matters even better, March 15th is National Everything You Think Is Wrong Day.
April 14th is both International Reach as High as You Can Day and Look Up to the Sky Day. April 16th is National Eggs Benedict Day.
May 4th is one of the more common funky holidays, you may know it as “May the 4th be with you” day or Star Wars Day, named for the popular movie/book franchise. The 10th is National School Nurse Day, while May 29th which is National Put a Pillow on Your Fridge Day.
June 9th is Donald Duck Day for all of you Mickey Mouse Club House Fanatics and June 18th is both International Picnic Day and Panic Day.
July probably has some of the most amusing dates, but these were the best ones out of the bunch. July 4th is National Sidewalk Egg Frying Day, July 11th is Cheer Up the Lonely Day, and the 13th is Embrace Your Geekness Day. Lastly, July 31st is National Uncommon Musical Instrument Day so try not to forget your Ocarina!
During August we have the 13th which is National Left-Handers Day which I will definitely be celebrating! There is also August 30th which is Frankenstein Day.
In September there is Fight Procrastination Day on September 6th, National Guacamole Day on September 16th, and even International Country Music Day on the 17th!
For all of the Alice and Wonderland fans, October 6th is Mad Hatter Day. Additionally, October 21st is the Sweetest Day while October 25th is the Sourest Day.
November has what could either be amazing or disastrous, which is National Men Make Dinner Day on November 2nd. Also, the 9th is National Chaos Never Dies Day.
And to end things off, in December there is the 8th being Pretend You’re a Time Traveler Day, the 10th being National Dewey Decimal System Day, and finally, December 25th is No “L” Day. Interpret those as you will.
These were just the holidays that I found most intriguing and strange. Every day has more than one holiday which is something that I had not known until recent research. Let us know which one is your favorite or which holiday you think should be added to your calendar!
