Plenty of students struggle with studying and, if you’re anything like me, hate doing work at home. A solution to this would be to study in an academic environment where students can work independently.
I’m here to announce that there is such a program at Northport High School, which is called After School Academic Place or ASAP for short. Here, teachers for certain subjects stay after school on designated days from Tuesday to Friday so students can catch up on work or prepare for tests.
There is a lack of student attendance at ASAP, possibly due to a lack of awareness, but I hope in sharing my positive ASAP experience, there can be a better turnout. Not only are teachers available to help explain material, but being in the library presents much less distractions than being at home. Not to mention you can bring friends and work on whatever you need to.
Overall, I think that this program is one of the best opportunities for students to enrich themselves and improve their academic performance. The ASAP schedule is posted all around the school and on the NHS page of the district website and is subject to change after February break. With the second half of the school year starting, it is a great time to improve your grades and review for the looming final exams.
