There are many great restaurants in the Northport-East Northport area, but there are really no hibachi restaurants located in our town. Izumi Sushi and Hibachi is a restaurant located at 6550 Jericho Turnpike, Commack, NY, and provides customers with the ultimate hibachi experience near our area.
Menu:
There are a lot of options on the menu featuring Japanese cuisine. I went to this restaurant for lunch and ordered from the Lunch Special menu. I recommend going during this time because you not only get the full hibachi experience, as well as soup and salad as appetizers, but the prices are lower since you are ordering off the lunch menu. I ordered steak and chicken as my entree and had soup and a salad as appetizers. The food was delicious! I highly recommend this option. However, going for dinner is also a good option, as you can get the hibachi experience. If you just want to eat, (without the hibachi show), there is a dining area where you can order many options, including different types of sushi.
Pricing:
Pricing is very reasonable at this restaurant. My steak and chicken was $15.95 which included a side soup and salad. This entree is served with fried rice and vegetables. For all entrees on the Lunch Special menu, you can get proteins that are served with multiple other foods. All meals on the menu are around this price, which makes this restaurant an attractive choice if you do not want to splurge on lunch.
Speed:
My family and I had a personal chef at our table for our visit, so the speed of the chef cooking the food and then serving it to us was very quick. The whole cooking process took about 15 minutes and the chef served each of us our food within five minutes. He also performed some tricks as he cooked our food which we all found entertaining! However, if you would like to order from this restaurant for lunch leave, I recommend ordering ahead since it is a farther distance from Northport High School and the Lunch Special time can get busy.
Overall Experience:
Every time I go to Izumi Sushi and Hibachi, I always enjoy my experience. I love how the chefs cook right at your table and you can see how your food is made. The chefs are very kind and overall the service is great among all the employees. Before you eat your entree, you can get delicious appetizers and, just a few minutes later, your food is served. However, I wish the portions could be a little bigger. I recommend ordering two proteins (such as steak and chicken) with your meal or else it may not be enough to eat. Nonetheless, Izumi Sushi and Hibachi is a great way to experience Japanese cuisine just a short drive from our area.
