Hello, baseball fanatics! The baseball playoffs are just around the corner! From bat to ball, and hotdog to popcorn. Baseball is a sport that always comes down to playoffs, the place to win it all.
In baseball, 30 teams across the country go head to head in a 162-game season. Ultimately, only the best 12 teams make it to the playoffs. As the playoffs approach, teams with the worst record in their league are eliminated. For example, this year, the Washington Nationals, Miami Marlins, Oakland Athletics, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels, San Francisco Giants, Saint Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Chicago White Sox have all been eliminated.
The White Sox are on track to having the worst MLB complete season since 1962. Currently, the White Sox have a record of 36-120, which ties the 1962 Mets for most losses in MLB history.
Let’s glide over to the stronger and more consistent teams that have clinched a playoff spot, or are still competing for one. The MLB playoff format seeds teams 1-6 in each league, with the three division winners making up the top three seeds followed by the three wild-card teams. The top two seeds in each league receive a bye to the Division Series. The American League (AL) leaders as of right now are The New York Yankees who have clinched a playoff berth, The Cleavland Guardians who have also cinched, and the Houston Astros. In the National League (NL) The Los Angeles Dodgers, The Philadelphia Phillies, and Milwaukee Brewers are the division leaders. The Dodgers and Phillies have clinched a playoff berth and the Brew Crew has clinched the NL Central.
The top 3 teams to win the World Series are The Dodgers, The Phillies, and The Yankees. As a Yankees fan, I’m hoping they will win despite it being almost 20 years. Baseball is baseball, and there is always another game to play. It will be very exciting this year. I hope you all tune in! See you in October!
