Ratatouille is a story about a unique rat named Remy and his journey to learn how to cook. He wanted to have a meaningful impact on the world of food he wanted to have his talent noticed as a chef.
Remy’s biggest challenge in the story is gaining back respect from his father and brother as he is seen as different from the rest of the rats. Remy almost decides to go back with his family after them getting split up after they evacuated their home prior, but instead, he decides to pursue his dream of being a cook and decides to prove his family wrong. In the end, he was able to get his entire rat family to cook with him.
A story set in Paris, it’s a great representation of the fact that “anyone can cook”, (quoted Gusto). The story starts with an ambitious Rat named Remy. He longed to be a cook but he was held back by his family. When separated from his family, he found the restaurant Gusto’s, and when he entered the restaurant, he met a wreckless janitor named Linguini. Remy helped him become a head chef by sitting in his hat and using his hair to control his movement. In the end, Remy and Linguini served the biggest food critic of all, Anton Ego. He served Ratatouille which he in the end loved. Overall the plot was very entertaining to follow and is a cherished movie in the household.
The movie is supposed to represent how people should always pursue their dreams no matter what people think of them. As well as overcoming many obstacles in your way.
This movie may be a “kids” movie, but there are many different ways you can look at the movie and maybe you could enjoy it once more as you did as a child. Ratatouille won an Academy Award while being nominated 5 times, truly showing that Ratatouille is a movie for all ages that can be enjoyed for generations.
All in all, it’s a huge recommendation in our opinion, and a movie that will never be forgotten.
