Baseball fan or not, you’ve most likely heard the term “Yankees” before. In 1903, Frank Farrell and Bill Devery founded the Yankees. Little did they know, they created a legend of a team.
Over the years of the Yankees winning rings and losing rings, they have always come across big problems. However, these were problems that were easy to overcome until recently. In 2018, we came to the sense that the Yankees had not been nearly as successful in any season since Derek Jeter and the 2009 World Series. After the Houston Astros cheated their way to a ring in 2018, the team broke up that offseason. It was devastating.
The team did not pick itself up until six years later (2024), despite all of Aaron Judge’s records and home runs. The team as a whole has never been in unison since 2009, except for the previously mentioned minor flash of hope in 2018.
But despite all odds, they pulled it off! They made it to the 2024 World Series. Aaron Judge was finally going to get his ring! Everyone thought that the team would go on another winning streak, but unfortunately, that didn’t work out. The Yankees played the worst baseball in the history of their team. They played so badly that they called one of the last games of the World Series “the 5th inning from hell.” The Dodgers won the ring, and the Yankees lost Juan Soto for an extra couple of million dollars to the Mets. This also backstabbed the Yankees, until Brian Cashman locked in.
Over the 2024 post-season, the Yankees acquired many stars, such as Devon Williams from the Brewers, Max Fried from the Braves, Cody Bellinger from the Cubs, and Paul Goldschmidt from Arizona. And in the first 2 weeks of the season, the Yankees have hit 25 home runs and set a world record game with 9 home runs! It may seem as if they are unstoppable at the moment, but let’s see how they progress and how much they really want that ring.
