Charlotte Stuertz is a current senior at Northport High School. She loves reading, spending time with her dog, and getting an abundance of sleep. I sat down with her to hear her thoughts on the past four years and her plans for the future.
What were some clubs you were involved in at Northport High School?
I started out in Students for 60,000, and I loved the service and helping my community. Then, my friends encouraged me to join Multicultural Club, and now I’m the treasurer. This year, I joined a bunch of clubs like French Club and Costume Crew. I wanted to experience that for my senior year.
Are there any activities outside of school that you enjoy?
I enjoy my job as a page at the Northport Public Library. I love that it’s air-conditioned when it’s hot, heated when it’s cold, and I don’t have to talk to people when I don’t want to. I also love the librarians; they are very sweet, and the environment is very comforting.
Who would you regard as the most influential teacher, advisor, or coach that you’ve had at Northport High School?
A lot of people. Of course, Mr. St. George, Ms. St. George, and Ms. Piquet were very influential in the humanitarian aspect of my identity. But there have been a lot of teachers I’ve had for a long time, like Madame Borche and Mr. Strasser, who have made a big impact on me.
Which college will you be attending, and what attracted you to it?
I’m going to Binghamton. My cousin went there for her nursing degree and told me all about it. First, she told me they had really good food, and then she said that they have a really good biology program. It’s upstate but still in-state, and the campus is really pretty.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
I see myself in a different country, living in a castle with a lot of dogs and wearing a sequinned moomoo dress.
What is your favorite place in the school?
I love the library. It’s where I eat my lunch, it’s where I study. It’s where I go when I want to be productive but also comfortable. Libraries are just my thing.
What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?
You really need to get down to how to manage your time properly. While having a job, being in clubs, and taking hard classes, you need to make sure everything lines up and you can do it all.
