In the year 2025, most of the world has used social media at least once in their lives. Among younger generations, most use social media every day and it can become addicting. Almost everywhere you go you hear someone talking about a video they saw on social media or a trending meme. But think about it, what would life be like without social media? Would it be good or bad?
The Good Consequences
Life without social media could be both positive and negative. It would be good because there would be less arguments and bullying. People would be more social in public places like schools and students would put more time into studying instead of procrastinating by scrolling. Grades would improve and more people would be successful in their futures.
The Bad Consequences
But with the good, also comes the bad. Without social media, it would be much harder to connect with your friends and family, especially if they live in a different part of the world. Another bad thing about living without social media is that small businesses wouldn’t perform as well. Many of these businesses make advertisements for free on social media so that they can gain a customer base. Businesses who could’ve gained notoriety online would fail and potentially shut down.
In Conclusion
Overall, social media can be viewed with different perspectives by different people. Middle schoolers and high schoolers use social media for entertainment purposes. But young adults looking to start their own businesses turn to social media to advertise. Social media can be used for both the good and the bad. On the good side, it can be used for earning money, starting your career, advertising your business, and connecting with long distance friends and family members that you can’t see that often. The bad effects of social media consist of cyberbullying, arguments, rumors, misinformation, crimes, and it leads students to procrastinate. Social media can be a good and bad thing depending on how you intend to use it.
