The iHeartRadio Jingle Ball has just recently announced all of its performers for this year, making excitement for the event rise. The first Jingle Ball was in 1995, and has continued since then. Over the years, they have had many famous headliners, including Mariah Carey, Avril Lavigne, and Lady Gaga. The show didn’t stop in 2020 during lockdown. Instead, performances were recorded but without a crowd. There were even a few artists who sang from their own homes.
While all those chosen to sing at the various Jingle Ball locations this year are extremely talented, a few of them stand out from the rest.
Alex Warren, whose hit song “Ordinary” was playing everywhere this past summer, will be at five of the ten locations, including Madison Square Garden.
Laufey will be at the Jingle Ball this year promoting her new album, A Matter Of Time. It was released on August 22, the same date as the up-and-coming artist Sombr’s new album I Barely Know Her. They made TikToks together before the release date, jokingly arguing about how the other was “sabotaging” them. I predict that she’s going to sing either “Lover Girl” or “Tough Luck,” which is one of my favorite songs by her. If anyone wants song suggestions by Laufey to know her music better before watching her performance, I would suggest “Too Little, Too Late,” “Bored,” and “Castle In Hollywood.”
The Kid Laroi will only be singing in Inglewood, California, this year. He recently broke up with Tate McRae, and they have been making songs about the other since then. Some people say the breakup was just a publicity stunt, and others say they were never together in the first place.
My favorite artist ever, Conan Gray, will be at four locations. His album Wishbone was released on August 15, and he performed at many festivals throughout the summer. He was the first person to ever be both “Sally” for artist Role Model (Tucker Pillsbury) and do the Apple Dance at a Charlie XCX concert. Conan also just recently covered Chappell Roan’s song “The Subway.” He will likely sing “Vodka Cranberry” at Jingle Ball just like he did at the VMAs, but I would love to hear him sing something less popular as well, like “Bed Rest,” “Connell,” or “Jigsaw.” I have a strong theory that Conan will release a second part to his album on November 11, and if I am correct, then he will probably sing a song from Wishbone (Snapped) instead. His first performance at Jingle Ball will be on December 5, which is also his birthday, and is two days after Heather Day. His outfit for this event will likely surprise us all, as he has had so many amazing ones this year.
To my surprise, the recent hit movie K-Pop Demon Hunters will have their own sing-along section during every single day of Jingle Ball. I’m not sure how it’s going to work or why they are doing it, but I’m sure the fans are extremely excited.
Other notable performers include Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Renée Rapp, and Teddy Swims.
