Port Sport Report: New NFL Tackling Rule

People all across America have mixed feelings about the NFL new tackling rule. According to the New York Times, the rule “makes it a 15-yard penalty for a player to initiate contact with an opponent by lowering his head”. People could argue that it’s a mistake because games are taking much longer due to the number of flags that are being called in one game. But, it could also be a good thing because a reckless hit will result in ejection from the game, and possibly a suspension. It helps save the players from a dangerous injury like a concussion, which happens at an average of over 200 times per year. This could potentially save a player’s career. However, some people also hate it because they think the NFL is becoming too “ soft” and some of the called penalties should not actually be a penalty. This NFL rule will not change, as they are trying to protect the players. Nobody likes to see a player’s season or even their career end because of an injury.
