I caught up with Mr. Dantuano, NHS Athletic Director, on his predictions for the winter sports season.

Q: What do you expect this season from the Boys Basketball team?
A: I anticipate them being a playoff caliber team, and compete to be one of the stronger teams in their league

Q: Are there any athletes that stand out to you from last year, coming into this season?
A: Girls- Many returning starters,  Hannah Stockman, Shea Cronin, Leah Morawski, Danielle Pavinelli, Kerry Dennin and Kelly McLaughlin
     Boys- Dan and Ian Melamerson, Nick Ree and Sean Walsh

Q: What advice do you give for incoming freshman, or just any athlete in general trying out for a sport?
A: Coaches don’t always look for the most talent, anyone who asks questions, Good listener

Q: What makes a good head coach candidate for Northport High School? Are there certain standards you need to meet, if so what are they?
A: They possess all certifications, playing experience at the high school/college level. Very strong communicator and organized, along with being driven.
