Tree and Leg Lamp Lighting Ceremonies

Northport recently celebrated the start of the holiday season with residents of the yearly traditions of lighting the Northport Christmas tree and the Carl’s Candies Leg Lamp. At the tree lighting, onlookers enjoyed some Christmas carols, complimentary hot cocoa and cookies from the Shipwreck Diner and Copenhagen Bakery, and a fun parade featuring the Northport first responders, plus an appearance from the Grinch, a reindeer, a snowman, and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Although it was cold down by the docks, everyone had a great time ringing in the holiday season together.

The Leg Lamp got some attention on local news, as well as attracting a huge crowd of interested viewers. Everyone got to enjoy a short scene from A Christmas Story and some holiday tunes. Our very own Tigerettes performed an awesome dance for everyone; great job, girls! We also got to see some beautiful dancing from the Posey School of Dance downtown.
