Empty Bowls

The 7th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser, which occurred March 19, was a great success! The event, organized by art teacher and Art Club advisor Ms. Johansen, raised over $5000 for the Ecumencial Lay Council Food Pantry, a local food pantry which feeds 500. With a donation, attendees received a dinner and choice of a handmade bowl by one of Ms. Johansen, Mrs. Wolf, or Mrs. Driscoll’s  students to remind them of all of the empty bowls in the world. Student volunteers helped run the event, with some students serving soup, others attending to the bowl stand, and lastly cleaning up. Performances were also made by students, including Kiri Figlio, pzypatrol, Emma Marie, Cali Alvarez, The Ties, The Tights, Bella & Zoe, and Bella Destio. The event was also attended by Suffolk County Legislator Dr. William Spencer, the ELC leadership team, and by Altice Connects Attendees whose company donated $1000 to the event. The event was also sponsored by local restaurants as well as Panera, which donated food to the event. Come to Empty Bowls next year and you’ll be sure to have an amazing time!
