On October 9th, 2022, Kanye West released a chain of jaw dropping, anti-semetic tweets. “going death con 3 [sic] On JEWISH PEOPLE…The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda,” West tweeted.

Just hours before, West’s Instagram account was restricted for similar reasons. In response to his censorship, West tweeted a photo of Himself and Mark Zuckerberg with the caption “Look at this Mark How you gone kick me off Instagram?”

These controversial posts have since been taken down and West’s Twitter account is locked; however, the backlash is strong. Unsurprisingly, West is once again the center of controversy,  So what other scandals have West been involved with, what is going to happen to his social media accounts, and what should we do?

West has had a scandalous career over the years. His first large-scale controversy occured when he stormed out of the 2004 American Music Awards after Gretchen Wilson won Best New Artist.

Not long after, West was a featured speaker for NBC’s: Concert for Hurricane Relief. While West was presenting, he diverged from the original script and stated “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

In 2007, West was nominated for five MTV Music Video awards. After losing all five, Went went on rampage, stating that he would never return to the awards ceremony again. He returned two years later.

In 2008, West got into a physical brawl with a photographer after the paparazzo took pictures of him in LAX.

After Taylor Swift won Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV video music awards, West grabbed the award from Swift’s hands and stated “I’m sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!”

In 2018, the rapper hopped on to twitter to proclaim his love for former president, Donald Trump. “You don’t have to agree with trump but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother… I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does. That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.” West wrote.

During a TMZ interview in 2018, West remarked “You hear about slavery for 400 years. 400 years? That sounds like a choice… Like, that was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all? It’s, like, we’re mentally in a prison. I like the word ‘prison’ because slavery is too direct to the idea of blacks… Harriet Tubman never actually freed the enslaved people through the Underground Railroad ”

In March 2022, West’s Instagram account was banned for 24 hours for using racial slurs against Trevor Noah.

On top of all this, just a few days ago, West showed up to the Yeezys fashion show with a ‘White Lives Matter’ shirt.

The fact that Kanye West’s social media accounts haven’t already been banned is absolutely absurd. The man used multiple racial slurs and said that slavery was a choice!

But even after all that, a 48 hour restriction to his Instagram is the only repercussion that will be occurring after his most recent scandals. This is because Elon Musk, the current owner of Twitter, has publicly proclaimed West as a friend. On Monday evening, Musk tweeted “Welcome back to Twitter my friend! I have spoken to Kanye and he expressed my concerns about his recent tweet, which I think he took to heart.”

All of this is absolutely insane. We can’t keep letting Kanye West get away with this! That is why all of his social media accounts need to be banned. Liora Rez, the executive director of StopAntisemitism stressed “StopAntisemitism calls on [Kanye] to publicly apologize for his comments, and for Meta and Twitter to permanently suspend him from their platforms… Threats of violence and hate speech must not be tolerated by Elon Musk or whomever is in charge next at Twitter… Musk’s recent tweet that he’s expressed his concern to [Kanye] is simply not enough.”

After all that West has said and done to hurt Jewish people, POC, and women, it is clear that he shouldn’t have access to social media. We cannot have our children be influenced by such a heinous, blundering idiot! It would be ignorant to continue letting West indoctrinate young minds on the internet.
