When most people think of cafeteria food, they tend to think of the stereotype that it all tastes like soggy cardboard, or something similar. But in Northport, our cafeteria food actually isn’t that bad – in fact, it’s not even close.
Maybe this is just my BSA experience coming in – I’m not as picky about food as I used to be. Contrary to popular belief, I think the cafeteria food is actually pretty good. Obviously it’s not as delicious as a nice home cooked meal, but it’s still more than edible, and there’s always lots of options for breakfast or lunch.
Maybe you decide you want the hot lunch, or a delicious slice of pizza. Maybe you want a chicken patty. But even if you don’t like any of those options, it’s fine, because there are three different sandwiches for you to choose from. My favorite is the Godfather sandwich, with ham, salami, pepperoni, and provolone, and I get it quite frequently.
There’s also more than one option for milk, with chocolate and low fat milk to choose from. I personally would prefer skim or whole milk, but I get chocolate since the other two aren’t an option.
If that’s not enough to convince you, there’s quite a few options for sides as well. There’s almost always some sort of fruit, usually apples, but that can vary, as can the other sides. You can also visit the snack line for everything from cookies to chips.
There are two lunch lines, so the lines go faster no matter what you want from the cafeteria. The snack line is a separate line from the lunch lines, so the people who just want snacks don’t have to wait for the people getting lunch and the lunch lines don’t take longer due to snack people clogging up the lines.
Despite what many of you think, the cafeteria food really isn’t that bad. So if you’ve never tried the food because of its reputation, I’m asking you to please give the cafeteria food a chance, because it’s really not as bad as you probably think!
