Everyone loves dogs, but most don’t know the difference between the many breeds. I have a dog myself and I’m interested in all dogs. For this article, I researched many types of dogs and these were my favorite ones:
1. German Shepherd: The German Shepherd is a breed of dog that originates from Germany, hence the name. German Shepherds are a good choice for many different owners because of their intelligence and character. They’re good companions for families, couples, or even single people. German Shepherds are a breed of working dogs that are of medium to large size. The breed was originally intended for herding sheep, but now they’re usually adopted for being kind and loyal friends.
2. American Staffordshire Terrier: The American Staffordshire Terrier is a loyal, trustworthy, and well-socialized friend. They originated in America and were a responsibly bred species. The American Staffordshire Terrier which also has a nickname “The ArmStaff” is a medium-sized dog with a short coat of fur. The American Staffordshire Terrier is a breed of pitbull, which looks almost the same as the American Pitbull Terrier. The main difference between these two breeds is their size standards.
3. Great Pyrenees: This dog is a large, powerful, and thickly-coated dog, which is bred for deterring predators on snowy mountains. This breed of dog comes straight from the Pyrenees mountains that separate France and Spain where they are called the Patou. These dogs shed A LOT in hot climates so they require frequent grooming but they aren’t too high maintenance.
4. Pomeranian: These fluffy animals are made up of two coats of fur and a tiny body. The Pomeranian comes from the Pomeran region of Northwest Poland and Northeast Germany. They’re descended from larger Spitz-type dogs, specifically the German Spitz. Pomeranians are playful, adaptable, and affectionate dogs. They do well in most households, but they do best in homes where someone is around for most of the day. This breed also gets along with children and other animals.
5. Golden Retriever: A gentle, medium-sized Scottish breed is one of the most popular dog breeds in America. The Golden Retriever is famous for its lavish golden coat of fur. It is commonly kept as a pet for their happiness and affectionate nature. Golden Retrievers may be considered high maintenance in the aspect of being hard to groom and the amount of exercise they get. They’re known for their high intelligence, calm nature, and high energy. Golden Retrievers are also easy dogs to train and are good for first-time dog owners.
Overall, there are many different types of dog breeds in the world, but these are my top 5. Having a dog is great and can be very rewarding, no matter what breed you get!
