Cutting things close to the deadline, voting starts today! The Freshman Class of 2027 has a voting google form out for the freshman right now.

Cutting things close to the deadline, voting starts today! The Freshman Class of 2027 has a voting Google form out for the freshman right now. Voting will conclude Thursday 10/5/2023 and the winning council will be announced this Friday 10/6/2023! Let’s meet the candidates:

Fighting for President we have Autumn Cavanaugh, Taryn Boylan-Thorpe, Mariana Aronaidis, and the Port Press’ very own Josh Fields.

Vice Presidents are Liam Dwyer running alongside Josh Fields, Samantha Canales-Pinto running with Taryn Boylan-Thorpe, and Charlotte Ciavarella.

Maddy Sollch is running for Secretary unopposed.

Talia Aguirre and Julia Reuter are running for Public Relations Officer.

For Historian, Port Press’ very own Sara Rayola is running against Valeria Sperber.

And finally, running for Treasurer is a three-way battle between Samantha Marshall, Emma Murphy, and Evan Cooperstein.

These candidates are fighting for their spots on the freshman class council so make sure to cast your vote before the poll closes. Keep your ears peeled for the announcement and give each competitor your best luck!

Sara Rayola is a Freshman at Northport High School and a Freelancer for The Port Press. She is a member of the Northport High School Girls Varsity Tennis Team. She enjoys writing, reading, playing video games, traveling, playing sports like tennis and badminton, listening to music, and volunteering. Her favorite musical artists are Lovejoy, Panic @ the Disco, Alec Benjamin, Lana Del Rey and Green Day. She likes writing short stories and poems as well as opinion works. Among her many favorite songs is “Portrait of a Blank Slate” By Lovejoy.

This is Lily’s third year of involvement in the Port Press, and this year, they’re also the Assistant Editor! They love baking and sharing the recipes that they’ve made with the rest of the Port Press staff (biweekly on Monday afternoons). They’re a rank leader in the marching band, where they play the clarinet, NOT the oboe. Contrary to popular belief, Lily cannot do math.
