Sports are one of the most popular inventions that humans have ever made. There’s a variety of different sports from 70,000 BC, that can keep you in shape, make you develop better mental health, and even give you a better future! In today’s time, there are about 15 different sports in Northport High School, contact or no contact.
Today, I asked four leaders involved in the Port Press Club, which sports they play, or watch, and which sport they would recommend people to try or watch! Here’s what they said.
Andrew Beitchman is in the eleventh grade, and he’s a Junior Editor for the Port Press. He recommends Football, and he loves watching Baseball in his free time. “My sport to recommend is Football and my favorite sport to watch is baseball.”
Sara Rayola is a Junior and she plays tennis, badminton, and ice skating as her hobbies. “I play tennis, badminton and ice skating as a hobby. I’ve played many, many sports throughout my life.” She recommends others to watch either of these sports, since they’re underrated. “I would recommend others to really sit down and watch either of those sports as they are underrated and can actually get pretty intense and entertaining.”
Leo Asadourian is in eleventh grade, and he’s a Junior editor for Port Press. He recommends watching Hockey and Tennis, since both sports are energetic, and entertaining. “I would recommend that people watch professional Hockey and Tennis because they are extremely energetic, fast paced, and entertaining. They are also very unique sports, not many people would think of them right away!” A sport that Leo believes others should play is baseball, because of the environment, and his experiences with other sports! “I would recommend people to play baseball because of the environment and the vibes! It’s a real treat to be a part of a baseball team as I have been on one for 8 years. I play golf, tennis, basketball, baseball, and I was a soccer goalie a few years back! I watch baseball, hockey, and a little bit of tennis and football.”
Carly Heffernan, the Editor in Chief of Port Press, expresses that she doesn’t know much about sports, and doesn’t feel like she would succeed in them. “I don’t think I know about sports, because it wasn’t really something I was encouraged to be into. I tried soccer as a little, little kid, but I had no skill and no luck. I actually can’t catch any sort of ball, because in my right eye, I can’t really see that well.”
Sports are very fun and entertaining, and it’s alright if you can’t or don’t play sports. As long as you are content in playing or watching the sports you prefer!
