Arcane originates from the game, League of Legends, an online 5v5 team-based game. However, the TV show Arcane does not match the game exactly.
Arcane is the most expensive animated series in the world, with a budget of 250 million. It took Netflix about 6 years to make the 1st season which launched in 2021.
The creators knew that Arcane would either be a hit or miss and it ended up as a huge success.
Critics noted the beauty of Arcane’s animation and art style. The mixture of 3D and 2D elements created unique visuals that resonated with viewers.
After Netflix noticed the show’s success, they began making season 2. In only 3 years season 2 was launched in 2024.
Despite how expensive Arcane’s creation was, Netflix was able to turn a profit. However, the company Riot (the makers of League of Legends) didn’t make their money back. For this reason, the show concluded in season 2 with a rushed finale.
Arcane is an incredible show starring 2 sisters on rival sides of a war between magic technologies and clashing convictions. I recommend this show to literally everyone. I am trying not to be biased, but it really is, incredible.
